I am home. I planned to return to London/ Oxford on Monday. By Sunday it became clear that returning to the US at the end of April would not be possible so I cancelled my flight. Robert packed up our belongings and after some difficulty and lots of time on the phone and internet arrived last night. He is well, happy to be home and sequestered in our basement for two weeks.
More about life in Oxford and missing what I thought would be time for more exploring later. Today the focus is wellness and what we can do to boost our immune systems and be well. Sleep is important. We should try to get 7-8 hours. Eat nourishing food- avoid sugar. I make a hot drink of 1/2 lemon and some fresh ginger- detox teas and green tea are also good.
Open your doors and windows for a few minutes for fresh air. Even though gyms are closed we can still exercise. TV and the internet offer many classes. We can also take walks and enjoy the emerging spring- remembering to keep distance from others.
Limit tv/ technology. We all want to be informed but the news cycle repeats every hour and much of the delivery increases unease and anxiety. Anxiety and high negative emotion has a negative impact on our health and wellbeing.
Do something creative/ fun everyday. If you are working at home after an hour take a 5 minute dance break.
Meditation/Mindfulness is a great practice to promote health and wellness.
Medical research indicates that meditation reduces stress and anxiety, promotes emotional health, calms the nervous system, improves sleep, decreases blood pressure, decreases inflammation.
Social distancing is necessary as we work together to manage Coronavirus. It can also cause
us to feel isolated.
Beginning this Saturday 3/21 at 10:00am CDT I’m going to set up a group Meditation on Zoom. You will need to download the Zoom Cloud Meeting app- it’s free. I am emailing invitations to people. If I don’t have your email please text or email me.
If you know someone who wants to join this group send me the email.
Sending with Blessings.
