“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.”~ Charles Dickens

Today is sunny in Oxford after a week of rainy days. I returned Monday from London. There are Christmas markets in London, Oxford and all the villages in England with bright decorations and wonderful food and drink and caroling. There were tons of people in the streets even in the rain!

Last week I went to an evening event at Highclere Castle which is the setting for Downton Abbey. The Earl and Countess of Carnarvon hosted the evening and  Gerald Dickens, the great, grandson of Charles Dickens performed A Christmas Carol. He is an accomplished actor and his performance was wonderful. Watching the performance and traveling around London reminds me that this season is complicated and the message of A Christmas Carol is real today.

Honoring Christmas in our hearts requires caring for others, forgiving, practicing mindfulness, and choosing joy and happiness. If you are not feeling connected join a group that provides meals or shelter, visit an elderly person, read to children in a hospital, visit an animal shelter, take a drive or walk and enjoy nature or the decorations around your town.

Sending you blessings for a Merry Christmas and Abundant New Year.
