Today it is sunny. It is morning here in Oxford so as I write this I am aware that you are sleeping. I hope you are sleeping and resting peacefully. The holidays seem to bring a lot of “busyness” or perhaps we create that feeling.
January brings an invitation to slow down. Recently I sprained my ankle so I have had to really slow down. I can walk but on the uneven roads and side walks I really have to pay attention to every step. This injury reminded me that during the holidays my meditation and mindfulness practice decreased. I also realized that my negative judgment, anxiety, and general discomfort had increased.
Meditation, mindfulness, yoga, exercise…these are all necessary for our wellbeing. We would never skip brushing our teeth or hair because the consequences would be immediate.
I think because the changes in our wellbeing when we interrupt our meditation practice are subtle it takes a while to notice; or you can sprain an ankle.
January 25 is the Lunar New Year. This is the prefect day to release the past year and set intentions for the new year. We will be meeting that Saturday for Reflection and Meditation and create vision boards to express what each one of us wants to attract this year.
In preparation, consider what you want to attract: your dream job, relationship, house, travel…..Next look for words, pictures, small items to attach to the board. You can chose a specific area of your life or your life in general when you design your board. It is important to focus on what you want to attract; be positive and specific. Don’t censure your dreams.
Bring in magazines, pictures etc. You can also draw images.
I will provide boards and glue sticks and markers.
Doing this in a group is particularly helpful because group energy is powerful. Vision boards are powerful because most of us are visual learners.
A picture is worth a thousand words.
Also as picture can anchor us when we become distracted. Energy goes where attention flows.
Registration will be posted this week.
If you can’t make it on the 25th you can do this on your own.
