Life seems to occur in chapters. Most of us experience trouble when we are transitioning from one chapter to another- change. We can learn to embrace this time and enjoy it. I am transitioning from a traditional group practice to a private practice.
In my new chapter
I am a health and wellness teacher. Personally and professionally I embrace and practice wellness body mind and spirit. I assist others in their healing and wellness practices.
I intend to continue 1-1 therapy. Essentially the change is from an illness focus to a wellness focus.
Let’s say someone is getting divorced and is depressed and worried and anxious. These are all legitimate feelings. If we focus on only the fear and anxiety they will tend to increase. The brain will ruminate on all the reasons to increase the worry.
Rather than focus on your depression, we will focus on options to increase greater health & wellness. Your body will follow your thoughts.
On the other hand, if that person focuses on wellness and begins by choosing three things he wants to increase in life like- health, abundance, vitality- and repeats these thoughts while exercising, whenever his thoughts move to worry, eventually his brain will adapt to the more positive thoughts. Including exercise – walking, biking, swimming increases the effectiveness. Also, practicing breathing techniques, meditation & yoga helps.
We will also look at eating and drinking habits as well as how free time is spent.
